Sir Ian McGeechan was the last man to lead the Lions when they headed to South Africa in 2009
England's World Cup winning boss Sir Clive Woodward was the Lions coach on the 2005 tour
Graham Henry became the first foreigner to coach Britain and Ireland's elite in 2001
McGeechan was the last coach to lead the Lions to series success, back in 1997
The 1993 Lions were also coached by the former Scotland and Lions centre
McGeechan's first tour as head coach ended with a 2-1 victory over the Wallabies in 1989
Jim Telfer is better known for assisting McGeechan in 1997 but he was also head coach in 1983
Another former Lions' back rower, Noel Murphy, coached the Lions in South Africa in 1980
Having captained the Lions to victory in New Zealand in 1971, John Dawes returned as coach in 1977
Ex Lions and Ireland prop Syd Millar was head coach of The Invicibles in 1974
Ronnie Dawson (right) followed John Robins and preceded Carwyn James as Lions coach in 1968
