Gerald Davies was twice a tourist with the British & Irish Lions, in South Africa in 1968 and New Zealand in 1971, he took over from Andy Irvine as chairman of the Lions Committee after acting as Tour Manager on the last tour to South Africa in 2009.
He scored 13 tries in 19 appearances for the Lions, equaling the Lions' Test record of two tries in an international against New Zealand in the second Test in 1971. The Lions actually lost that game, but came out on top in the four match series 2-1 with one game drawn. The 1971 Lions remain the only British & Irish team to win a series in New Zealand.
He scored a then record equaling 20 tries in 46 Tests for Wales, he helped his country win three Grand Slams and five Triple Crowns.
