Robinson hails Scotland A

Andy Robinson hailed the Scotland A team’s “top drawer” ambition after they thrashed their Ireland counterparts 67-7 in Perth.

Scotland’s second-string XV crossed for 10 tries at McDiarmid Park as fringe players pressed their cases for selection to Frank Hadden’s senior side.

Substitute Max Evans grabbed two tries, with more coming from Phil Godman, Dougie Hall, Alan McDonald, Rory Lawson, Calum MacRae, Alasdair Dickinson, Ben Cairns and Craig Smith.

Former England coach Robinson, who has combined his duties as Edinburgh boss with the Scotland A role, said: “The players have really trained well all week and they’re a pleasure to coach.

“The ambition they showed during the game really was top drawer.”
