Monye made his England debut this year in England’s 39-13 victory over the Pacific Islanders at Twickenham and then started against Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. A back injury ruled him out of the first three 6 Nations matches but he returned against France and scored his first try in the 26-12 Championship finale against Scotland.
Known for his blistering pace he was a promising sprinter but he chose rugby and he made his Premiership debut with Harlequins in November 2002. He has won two Barclays Churchill Cups with England Saxons.
In 2003 he came to prominence on the IRB World Sevens Series stage with the England Sevens squad, where his combination of pace, raw power and aggression proved enough to shatter any defence. He helped England win the Hong Kong Sevens.
