1910 | South Africa & Argentina

Lions Rugby 1910 Argentina1910 was a unique year for British Isles rugby as it actually saw two tours depart for the southern hemisphere. As Tom Smyth's party headed for the Cape , another squad, led by England full-back John Raphael, was rounding off a six-match visit to Argentina , which included the first Test of the Pumas' history.

The Argentine party was billed on departure as the English Rugby Union team, but was denoted as the Combined British team by its hosts, a more correct title for a 19-man squad that included three Scots.

Managed by Oxford University and RFU stalwart RV Stanley, the tourists encountered only limited opposition, scoring 213 points to 31 and winning the Test 28-3.
