Andy Irvine

Tour Manager

Born: 16 September, 1951 | Edinburgh

Andy Irvine made a Scottish record equaling 42 appearances on three successive tours with the British & Irish Lions in 1974, 1977 and 1980. Over the course of those tours he scored a record 274 points in a Lions jersey and figured in nine Test matches, winning four times. He was blooded on the unbeaten 1974 tour, but also tasted victory in the second Test in New Zealand four years later.

In the colours of his native Scotland he scored 250 points in 51 internationals and was either one of the greatest wings or full backs of his era, depending on which number he had on his back. Inducted into both the International Rugby Hall of Fame and the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame, he became President of the Scottish Rugby Union in 2005.

He switched with Gerald Davies from being chairman of the Lions to take over as Tour Manager for the 125th anniversary trip to Australia in 2013.
