The 2013 British & Irish Lions tour heads back to Australia after a gap of 12 years and will visit many of the same places as the original Lions did way back in 1888. Those first Lions were in Melbourne to enjoy the centenary celebrations of the settlement of Australia in 1788. There were around three million people living in Australia then compared to today's population of around 23 million.
The sixth-largest country in the world by land mass, after Russia, Canada, China, the USA and Brazil, Australia provides its millions of visitors each year with a whole range of wonderful sights, sounds, tastes and experiences that make it one of the most popular destinations in the world.
The 'Sea of Red' fans that will be following the Lions will be visiting Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra and will be enjoying the superb sun, surf, wine and friendly welcome wherever they go. The country's 50,000 km of coastline is bound to be explored and the Sydney Harbour Bridge is set to be conquered.
The land of the BBQ will become the party capital of the rugby world for the month of June and the best wines of the Margaret River near Perth, the Barossa Valley near Melbourne, and the Hunter Valley near Sydney, will be tasted over and over again, along with the odd drop of lager!
It promises to be an unforgettable experience!
