Boshoff is alleged to have targeted two of his side's black players in a post-match dressing room rant following the 58-16 defeat by the Stormers at Newlands last weekend.
"Allegations have been made against Leon, but until our investigations are complete, we cannot comment further," confirmed Golden Lions Rugby Union CEO Manie Reyneke.
Boshoff is alleged to have singled out 24-times capped Springbok prop Lawrence Sephaka and outside-half Earl Rose, a Springbok tourist and the Lions' leading points scorer last season, for criticism, claiming that despite their "poor" performances they "would go far because of their skin colour".
Reyneke said that any charges against Boshoff, who asked head coach Eugene Eloff to leave the room before addressing the players, would be formalised today.
The Lions have won only one of their opening four games in this season's Super 14 and currently lie one off the bottom of the table - exactly where they finished last season. They face the Brumbies and Hurricanes at home in the next two rounds before heading to New Zealand and Australia to met the Chiefs, Blues, Reds and Western Force.
In his weekly column on the Lions website, Eloff said he couldn't accept the second-half performance against the Stormers.
"In the three years of coaching and building this team, this was the first time I felt that the guys gave up in the second half. I was just as disappointed as all our supporters were. I really do believe that we could have won this match," he wrote.
"There is nothing wrong with the coaching, the structures, the systems and fitness. It is all about attitude, game discipline, urgency and accurate execution between the four lines. Now it is time for the players to deliver. I know they have the potential and ability to do it, and I will always believe in them.
"We have nine matches to prove ourselves in the Super 14, a match to win against the British & Irish Lions and a Currie Cup to win."
The British & Irish Lions meet the Golden Lions at Ellis Park on Wednesday, June 3.
