The former Lion stood down as head coach of Scotland following a disappointing autumn series.
But it has been reported that he will return to rugby with the West Country club.
During his playing career Robinson won eight England caps and plied his domestic trade for Bath.
He was a member of the 1989 Lions tour of Australia and featured in six non-Test matches.
As a coach he began at the Rec and was later appointed England forwards coach and was part of the group that masterminded the 2003 World Cup success.
He succeeded Sir Clive Woodward as head coach in 2004 and was also part of the back room staff on two Lions tours - in 2001 and 2005.
On the domestic scene Robinson has also enjoyed a stint at Edinburgh before moving on to Scotland.
