Injury to Alesana Tuilagi means Tigers are now even more stretched in the wing department, with Tom Varndell the only fit specialist in the Tigers set up. The fact that Varndell is a member of England's Elite Player Squad makes matters even more urgent for new coach Heyneke Meyer as the Premiership's leading scorer in 2007/08 will be missing from club action for most of the autumn period.
Caucaunibuca has starred at international, Super and Top 14 level but was released 18 months early from his most recent contract with French club Agen. A three-month ban for cannabis use and rumours regarding ill discipline, poor time keeping, injuries and unsatisfactory fitness levels led to him leaving France in February of this year.
Since then, he has been playing club rugby in Fiji but has also reportedly drawn interest from Australian Super 14 side New South Wales Warratahs.
