"I think if you are going into a Test match and you want to win it, you will be picking Wilkinson at 10," Jones told the Sunday Mirror.
Wilkinson may have been helpless to prevent Jones' new charges thrashing his Newcastle Falcons side 44-14 at Vicarage Road yesterday, but the former Australia head coach still feels the 29-year-old should be an important part of Martin Johnson's new-look England.
"Wilkinson has had a lot of injuries but he keeps bouncing back and playing with the same enthusiasm he had when he first played for England back in 1998.
"England have got a lot of young blokes like Cipriani coming through and they are pretty handy to have.
"At this stage Cipriani is a pretty good full-back and the ability of those two to interchange at flyhalf in a game would be pretty dangerous."
