The Sharks are now three points clear of the Blue Bulls at the head of the table, with the next three places being filled by sides who will also face the Lions on next summer's much-anticipated tour.
The Cheetahs currently occupy third position with four regular games remaining , despite defeat against fifth-placed Western Province, while the Golden Lions are sandwiched between both teams in the fourth and final semi-final spot.
Ian McGeechan's men take on the Golden Lions on June 3, the Cheetahs on June 6, the Sharks on June 10 and Western Province on June 13 in what is likely to be a crucial 11 days in the lead up to the first Test.
