Roberts formed an effective midfield partnership with Ireland's Brian O'Driscoll as his power and pace caused numerous problems for both provincial and international opposition on the 10-match tour.
The medical student was selected for both the first and second internationals against the Springboks and was a huge threat to the world champions, particularly in the opening Test in Durban.
A wrist injury brought his tour to a disappointing end during the second half of the heart-breaking defeat in Pretoria, however, and it was feared that he might face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
There has since been good news for Blues and Wales fans, though, with a scan revealing that the injury was a sprain and not a break.
Roberts is therefore expected to back in full training prior to the start of the 2009/10 domestic season.
