Scotland came agonizingly close to defeating world champions and Lions opponents South Africa last weekend but now need a win over the Cannucks to have any chance of regaining their place in the top eight of the world rankings.

Three of the changes are necessitated by injury, with Chris Paterson, Thom Evans and Jason White all ruled out.

Wings Simon Webster and Nikki Walker and back row players Alasdair Strokosch and Simon Taylor all earn starting spots, with Allister Hogg dropping out of the matchday 22 altogether.

Sale's Rory Lamont, who made his long-awaited return to international action against the Springboks, switches from wing to full back in place of Patterson, while Max Evans could win his first Scotland cap after being named among the replacements.

"There is an element of freshening up the squad and it's also an opportunity to look at certain blends ahead of the Six Nations but, as ever, the selection is about winning the game," said Hadden.
