Roberts showed remarkable courage to play through the pain barrier for 15 minutes and even contributed to the move leading to Shane Williams' opening try.
But despite the impressive triumph at the Millennium Stadium, Bishop's thoughts were with Cardiff Blues star Roberts.
"Jamie has already texted us to send his congratulations. I'm going to give him a ring now to ask him how he is and to try to cheer him up!" Bishop said immediately after Wales' 21-18 win.
In spite of Roberts' injury blow, Wales held on for a stunning victory in what was just Bishop's second international.
"The atmosphere and spirit in the dressing room was amazing and everyone was delighted. It was so good I can't describe it. To play in front of a crowd like that and get a win in the manner in which we did was an outstanding performance and the crowd really gave us an extra boost.
"After the defeats against Australia and New Zealand, we knew we had to get that win.We will take a lot of confidence from this victory but it is important for us to keep up this form going ahead of the Six Nations."
