Demand for tickets for the post-Christmas clash saw the game moved from Quins' usual home of the Stoop to nearby Twickenham Stadium, with the move already paying dividends as 35,000 supporters have already purchased tickets for the Premiership contest.
The current crowd level would smash the record for a single Guinness Premiership fixture, with only the annual London Double Header outselling the event.
More than 5,000 tickets were sold last week alone and officials at the club believe they could come close to reaching the 50,000 licensed capacity by the time of kick-off in less than three weeks time.
