Both sides are looking for their first win in this season's competition after two consecutive defeats, while Italy will be seeking only their third ever RBS 6 Nations victory.

Italy have suffered heavy losses to tournament favourites England and France in their first two matches, but they see Scotland, who they defeated in their inaugural fixture back in 2000, as a beatable opponent.

"Against the Scottish we will show our ability and skills and are targeting only the win," Kirwan said.

"My players are training at present and they are concentrated, hopefully all this will be seen at the Flaminio on March 6.

"I want a winning mentality, to be more confident and attacking all the time. The Scots are a good team, but my players know what they have to do.

"We must play our own game in this match. Of course we must also respect our opponents 100%, but we will go onto the pitch with no fear at all."
