The reigning IRB World Player of the Year caught a stomach bug in Cape Town and didn't travel to Port Elizabeth with the rest of the squad last night, but will make the journey today and will sit on the replacement bench for the game.
His place in the side goes to England's Ugo Monye, who moves up off the bench. Tommy Bowe had travelled with the squad to provide cover should Williams not be able to be involved, but won't take part in the game.
Monye scored his third try on tour against Western Province last weekend and will now get another chance to impress ahead of the first Test on Saturday.
