Moody is handed a first start of the campaign, having completed a suspension imposed for punching Leeds number eight Jordan Crane in a Guinness A League match last month.
"We were tempted to start with Lewis on the bench, particularly given the amount of back-rowers at the club who are playing very, very well," said Tigers head coach Pat Howard.
"I am sure he will fatigue during the game at some stage, and we will have to deal with that, but when he's on the field I know he will give 150 per cent."
Moody packs down alongside Shane Jennings and Martin Corry, but Leicester launch their European campaign without England props Graham Rowntree and Julian White.
Rowntree has a neck injury that could sideline him for up to six months, while White has just started an eight-week suspension after being sent off for fighting in last Friday's Guinness Premiership clash against Newcastle.
Rowntree is replaced by Alex Moreno, with Wales international Darren Morris featuring at tighthead prop instead of White.
