Davies' injury occurred after he started all three Tests in the famous red jersey to help the British & Irish Lions to a 2-1 series victory over Australia.
However the 26-year-old Osprey is back fighting fit again and takes on Cardiff Blues on Sunday at the Millennium Stadium - with Allen champing at the bit to prove himself against a world-class opponent.
"It will be a big game for me personally and I know there will be pressure on me to play against him [Davies] as he's in the same position as me for Wales," Allen told Wales Online.
"Jon is one of the best, if not the best 13 in world rugby at the moment.
"To play against him is going to be a massive challenge but you have to play against people like that to know where you are yourself.
"I don't think I've earned the right to be above him at the moment. It will be a great battle with some great running rugby I would hope and I'm looking forward to playing against him, particularly at the Millennium Stadium.
"It doesn't get much bigger than playing against the guy who has the jersey at the moment."
