But O'Driscoll, who has toured with the Lions on four different occasions, admits he doesn't want to cut all ties with Leinster.
"I've had a few discussions about some involvement in the club and I hope that would be possible because it's a huge passion of mine," O'Driscoll told the Irish Times.
"From my point of view it would be nice to have an involvement of some sort. Nothing has been formally discussed, just briefly mentioned.
"From my end all I can say is that if I felt as though I could add value in some capacity to the club, I would love to and I'd be honoured to be still involved.
"A complete break would be hard. I want to break away from the day-to-day scheduling but I would love to be able to come in on my terms and help out if it was needed."
