But in his final act, the centre captained the Scarlets to a 27-15 win in the PRO12 at Parc y Scarlets and spoke afterwards of how difficult it was to hold back the tears after the final whistle.
"I feel very proud to end my Scarlets career with a win which was very important to me," said Davies.
"I thought we were the dominant team and deserved the win and we scored some half decent tries.
"It also feels very strange. I said in the week I am not very emotional and some things get me and some things don't.
"But I was welling up a little in the end and I am thankful for all the support at the end when everyone gave me their well wishes.
"Most of these boys are from the region and the players who come in buy into that concept.
"It's a proud place to be a part of and I am glad I finished on a high."
