Saracens scored all their points through 2013 British and Irish Lions Owen Farell but it was Wilkinson, who toured with the Lions in both 2001 and 2005, appearing in six Tests along the way, who stole the show.
He was replaced two minutes from the end to a standing ovation, and later admitted the game would be something he would remember for a long time.
"It's a hell of a feeling. I can't say enough just how I proud I am to be a part of this team, to have been able to play in this competition and to be able to play against teams like that as well," he said.
"There's a lot of relief, a lot of excitement, a lot of sheer adulation. At the moment, it's just trying to take it all in.
"It's a privilege to have been part of that game, to have been part of this final and to have won it - I couldn't have asked for more."
