But White has confirmed to the Scottish Rugby website that he is on the mend - "I should be back in full training by 26 January," he said - and has the Six Nations opener against Wales at Murrayfield on Sunday, 8 February very much in mind.
At his best, White is very much the sort of forward who could do a job for the Lions in South Africa this summer. His power in the tackle is able to upset any team.
