"The injury does sound horrific, but I'm fine now and ready to play. I thought about wearing a headguard, but I've decided not to do so because I will look stupid," said the Cardiff Blues player..
"It's been really frustrating watching on over the festive period and I've been chomping at the bit to play again. I believe I'll be coming back fitter and stronger than before.
"I'm just glad to be back involved and getting the chance to try and get some game-time under my belt over the next few weeks."
Roberts, capped seven times by Wales, will be be on the bench for the Blues' trip to Leinster to face reingin Magners League champions Leinster on Saturday. He could get some game time against Brian O'Driscoll or the fit-again Godon D'Arcy if he is given a run.
Then comes the acid test against Gloucester at Kingsholm the following weekend in a vital Heineken Cup clash for the unbeaten Blues. If he successfully neogitates that game, then Wales coach Warren gatland will surley name him in his Six Nations squad.
That might also prompt Ian McGeechan to follow suit by including him among his 60 candidates for the summer tour to South Africa when he names his expanded squad on 20 January.
