Mandela is an iconic figure for both South African rugby and the South African people, with his appearance at the 1995 Rugby World Cup Final one of the most memorable in the history of the sport.

The reigning World Champions will join with the country's national football squad at Mandela's residence before taking part in an onfield training session at the Wanderers Rugby club as they continue their preparations for Saturday's clash with Argentina in Johannesburg.

The match itself is part of the birthday celebrations for the ex-prisoner turned political hero, with the Springboks already expressing their determination to put in the kind of performance befitting such an historic occasion.
