At a team meeting on Friday, the squad unanimously voted to put out a statement expressing their views on the violence and to urge all South Africans to exercise tolerance and restraint.
"We, the Springboks, are horrified by the ongoing xenophobic attacks upon innocent people," read the statement.
"We, the Springboks, are disappointed that the perpetrators of such bigotry are our fellow South Africans.
"We, the Springboks, urge every citizen of our great land to rediscover the spirit of reconciliation upon which every achievement in the last 14 years - including our two World Cup triumphs - have been built."
