London Irish captain Bob Casey has seen his eight-year international exile end with his inclusion in the second row alongside Malcolm O'Kelly.
Prop Mike Ross of Harlequins will make his first senior appearance for Ireland in the non-cap match in a front row that also features Rory Best and Bryan Young.
Ulster's Paddy Wallace gets a rare start at fly-half with Ronan O'Gara on duty for Munster in the European Cup final.
Wallace will form a half-back partnership with provincial colleague Isaac Boss.
Best, Rob Kearney, Shane Horgan, Tommy Bowe and Jamie Heaslip all started at Twickenham in Ireland's last outing in March, a defeat that spelt the end of coach Eddie O'Sullivan.
There are four uncapped players on the bench - Tom Court, Ryan Caldwell, Jonathon Sexton and Frank Murphy.
Interim Ireland coach Michael Bradley said: "Barbarian games are always exciting, high-tempo matches.
"From that perspective it will be good preparation for us as we head into the tour where the teams have been playing a fast and loose game under the new experimental law variations.
"The match will be important for the players to get up to that pace of play before we arrive in New Zealand and also for the Churchill Cup players in the match squad ahead of their tour."
