With the Lions having secured the services of Warren Gatland, Sean Edwards and Rob Howley, Ospreys coach Sean Holley has confirmed his interest in playing his part on the Welsh tour to North America and Canada.

Holley, who took over at the EDF Energy Cup winners alongside Jonathan Humphreys following the departure of Lyn Jones in May, appears to be one of the leading contenders to join Robin McBryde and Neil Jenkins with Wales while Gatland and co are on Lions duty.

"I would be interested because it's our national team," said Holley.

"I'm a proud Welshman and want the national team to do well. It would be a great honour - I'm an ambitious coach.

"I'm only 38 but still have a long way to go in the game. My only concern is the Ospreys at the moment but if an offer came it would be fantastic."

If that offer does arrive, it could see Holley installed as a second assistant alongside Lions hero Jenkins, with both men working under the stewardship of 2001 Lions tourist and current Wales forwards' coach McBryde.
