The Lions i-phone application was launched earlier this week (1st June) and after only five days became the most downloaded sports application globally beating Manchester United, Liverpool FC and Formula One to the top spot.

The application allows users to get exclusive behind-the-scenes video clips from within the Lions camp as well as all the fixtures and venue info, latest news, live match commentary, squad profiles and match reports - all produced by the same team who are currently filming the official 2009 British & Irish Lions DVD, Pulse Films.

Pulse Films were appointed the official production company of the 2009 British & Irish Lions Tour to South Africa in January 2009, and are currently filming the behind-the-scenes tour DVD due for release in the autumn. The addition of the i-Phone app and online content for www.lionsrugby.com cement the 2009 Lions tour as a landmark cross-platform sports package.
The British & Irish Lions i-Phone Tour app is priced at £1.19 through the i-tunes store, and will give users a real sense of what it is like to be on the tour by providing them with a one-stop content centre for everything to do with the Lions from venue guides to match information, squad profiles to exclusive videos.
