The centre jetted to Johannesburg overnight and will link up with the Red Rose squad today after Harlequins George Lowe was ruled out of the tour.

Lowe will leave South Africa tonight to undergo further consultation after scans showed ligament damage to the left ankle.

"It's a shame for George because he had a good game against the Southern Barbarians until he was injured," said England head coach Stuart Lancaster

"But this is an opportunity for another young player who has come up through our age grade programme and into the Saxons to gain some valuable international tour experience"

Lions skipper Sam Warburton says the lessons he and his Welsh colleagues learnt in Australia last summer will stand them in good stead for their return visit with Britain and Ireland's elite next month.
