However, Wade is now back to full fitness and looking to earn his way back into the England fold when the new season comes around.
"I have definitely got the World Cup in my mind as a goal, but it is one of those goals where, first and foremost, I have got to get my place cemented in the Wasps side," said Wade.
"There are Autumn Internationals to challenge for too, so there is plenty of rugby to be played before the World Cup comes around and I am taking it step by step.
"Either way, we are in for a treat next season and there really is no better time to get involved with rugby. All the boys are looking forward to the new season and seeing the supporters again after a summer break."
