Alex Cuthbert scored for the Lions in the first Test against Australia in 2013
British & Irish Lion Alex Cuthbert admits his confidence has been rocked by his start to the season, but has a plan in place to get it back up as high as ever.
Cuthbert scored just the solitary try heading into Wales' autumn campaign, that coming in Cardiff Blues' very first game of the season against Zebre.
The 24-year-old did notch successive tries in Wales' opening November internationals against Australia and Fiji but drew a blank against New Zealand then South Africa.
Cuthbert has 15 career international tries to his name, including a score in the first Test of the Lions' ultimately successful tour to Australia last summer.
And Cuthbert, who featured four times overall for the Lions in Australia, believes some new thinking is needed if he is to add to his tally.
"I guess my confidence has been low in the last few months," Cuthbert told Rugby World magazine. "I haven't had the best start to the season with the Blues. Perhaps I've been guilty of trying too hard.
"I've been trying to get myself into situations and maybe trying to force it. Nothing's been coming off for me.
"I haven't been playing for too long and I'm still pretty raw, but it's come to the point teams have started to work me out.
"Maybe I need to start adding a few strings to my bow, time for the Cuthbert reboot 2.0! Hopefully it is just a stage all players go through."
