The flanker had already led Harlequins to the top of the Aviva Premiership and he was rewarded with a place in Stuart Lancaster's new England and later made captain.
Quins went on to clinch the league crown and Robshaw captained England during their three Test tour of South Africa.
But he insists both he and Quins must continue to improve as the new season gets underway.
"It was an incredible 12 months but from here on it's about not resting on your laurels, Robshaw told the Daily Express.
"All we do is focus on the process we constantly go through, whether that's week by week or game by game, rather than the end result, though hopefully that's the top four.
"Conor O'Shea is very good at keeping us in our place. We have been looking at the Olympics, talking about how we gain percentages here and there, and this is the stuff that will stay within us in striving to gain a precious advantage over all our rivals."
Quins start their defence against Wasps in the first leg of Saturday's Twickenham double-header.
And Robshaw is more than aware of the need to perform on the domestic stage with the small matter of a potential Lions tour to Australia at the end of the season.
"When it comes to events like that, it tends to come from the teams who are playing well," said Robshaw.
"Look at Harlequins last season, the number of players we had on England duty was down to how we were playing in the club."
