Munster and Ireland back row man Alan Quinlan had his Lions tour wrecked when he was handed a 12 week ban for a similar offence against Leinster in the semi-final of the Heineken Cup and now Burger could face similar punishment for his attack on Lions wing Luke Fitzgerald.
A second Springbok forward, Bakkies Botha, will also be in front of IRB Judicial officer Alan Hudson, of Canada, today He was cited for a dangerous charge on Lions prop Adam Jones that left him with a dislocated shoulder in the fourth minute of the second half.
Jones was one of five Lions players who ended up needing hospital treatment after the game at Loftus Versfeld that the world champions won 28-25 to clinch the series 2-0 with a game to go.
