Injury-free Corbisiero targeting big year with England
24 January 2015 11:48am
Corbisiero made five appearances in total on the Lions' 2013 tour
British & Irish Lion Alex Corbisiero says the World Cup is in his sights after waving goodbye to a frustrating 2014 riddled with injuries.
But his career with club and country has been slowed after a succession of injuries - having not made an appearance for England since November 2013.
However, the 26-year-old is now back in the England squad ahead of the trip to Wales in a fortnight's time and he has his heart set on big things in a Red Rose shirt.
"It was very, very frustrating. There were some tough times," said Corbisiero.
"It was not easy, but it makes it a lot sweeter to be back healthy and in a position to be back where I want to be.
"What an opportunity, what a way to start the competition (against Wales) and what an intense environment to walk into. I'm really looking forward to being involved.
"It's a massive year. We need to start putting in some performances, building some momentum and start aiming through this competition into what's ahead.
"We're aiming towards big things in this competition and leading into the World Cup.
"Now is the time to start winning those games consistently and getting to the top of this competition."
