Stuart Hogg was part of the triumphant British & Irish Lions tour to Australia in 2013
British & Irish Lions fullback Stuart Hogg admits he cannot wait to return from injury to help club side Glasgow Warriors in their pursuit of glory this season.
The 22-year-old, who was part of the successful Lions tour to Australia in 2013, was forced off with a groin injury during the Warriors' thrilling 34-34 draw with Leinster last month.
While Hogg is wary of rushing his rehabilitation, the Scotland international is hopeful that he will be back in time when Glasgow's league duties resume next week.
And with the Warriors still in the hunt for the title, Hogg admits he would rather be back helping out his teammates than watching on from the sidelines.
"The groin is good, rehab seems to be going well and, touch wood, hopefully I'll be back in the next wee while," Hogg told the Scotsman.
"I'm looking forward to getting back and hoping it will be next week. You never put a time limit on anything but I'd like to think I'll be in contention for selection next week.
"It's an exciting time - the boys are on fire, we're playing really well and we're massively up for the next few weeks. In the last three or four years we've been in semi-finals and finals so we have got that experience and know what it's about.
"For me I'd much prefer to be in contention for Glasgow at the moment. We've got a league to win and hopefully I'd be involved in that if possible.
"I've enjoyed my rugby this season and played with a smile on my face throughout so here's hoping I'll be back in a Glasgow jersey as soon as I can."
