Pichot moves into politics
3 December 2007 16:23pm
Agustin Pichot has moved into the world of politics after retiring from international rugby.
The Stade Francais scrum-half told the Clarin newspaper: "I want to give something back after all Argentina has given me.
"When you have represented Argentina in sports, there is a responsibility to give something back to the country.
"It is like a curiosity and a responsibility too. I know it's risky, but I like taking risks. Politics should not be used to conquer power, but for the good of the people."
Pichot prefers his job to be called "a social responsibility" rather than a political job.
He added: "I don't think I'm launching myself into politics, but I'm starting down a road which can help the country grow.
"I met (Chubut province governor) Mario Das Neves about two years ago and I liked his way of thinking, no matter which party he is a member of."
