Cheetahs flanker Heinrich Brussow was a key figure in the 2-1 series victory over Ian McGeechan's men despite having missed out on selection for the original Springbok squad.

The 23-year-old excelled at the breakdown against Britain and Ireland's elite and has since played a prominent role in the World Champions' 2009 Tri Nations triumph.

But despite already experiencing those substantial highlights in his fledging international career, Brussow believes this weekend's Currie Cup Final against the Blue Bulls will be equally memorable.

"Those things (the Tri-Nations and the Lions tour) are very special, but the Currie Cup is very important because it is the crown among South Africa's players," said Brussow, who is set to make his first start in his country's domestic showpiece having been among the replacements when the Cheetahs reached the final in 2006 and 2007.

"You play against friends and guys you know well. It is special to be able to win against those guys.

"It's the domestic competition and nice to be able to start. I'm really looking forward to it and it will be very special."
