Reports suggested a curfew break during the last week of the Tri-Nations campaign and an argument with Henry are the main factors behind his exclusion.
Weepu admitted his direct style may have soured his relationship with team management, and that he had one eye on following brother Billy, a former National Rugby League (NRL) player, into rugby league.
"I say things now and then that probably shouldn't be said, but that's just the way people take it," he told The Dominion Post.
"I probably don't say what they really want me to say. I'm saying what I want to say, but they are interpreting it wrong. I can be caught out at times but I'm just trying to be me.
"I ain't got no escape clause or anything like that. The main focus for now is NPC, then focus on '08 with the Super 14 and NPC, and we can start talking about what I want to do after that."
