Scotland, meanwhile, have lost their opening two RBS 6 Nations games against Ireland and France before defeating Wales in their last game of the championship.
McGeechan, who will step down from his role to become SRU director of rugby after the autumn World Cup, insists he will feel no pangs of emotion when he takes charge for his final Calcutta Cup game.
McGeechan said: "It will hit me next year when I'm not involved.
"At the moment, it doesn't feel any different because I'm still with the team.
"When Scotland play England next season, I will definitely feel it. Particularly at Murrayfield."
McGeechan will miss the tactical and mental jousting with English counterpart Clive Woodward in future clashes.
But the former British Lions coach is determined to see his side triumph and is urging his team to seize the initiative, even though the odds are stacked against them.
McGeechan continued: "They are the world's number one at the moment.
"A lot of the results have been created at Twickenham but there is no doubt they are number one at the moment. They have great players and an excellent structure."
