Springbok skipper John Smit will return to the scene of South Africa's World Cup final triumph over England later this month thanks to ASM Clermont Auvergne's Top 14 semi-final victory over Perpignan.
A week after he was in the same Springbok side as Percy Montgomery, Smit was helping his French club side put Monty's Perpignan team to the sword in a 21-7 win in Marseille.
Although Smit started on the bench - Argentine hooker Mario Ledesma started at hooker for ASM - he will still get the chance to face either Toulouse of Stade Francais Paris at Stade de France in the final.
Both Smit and Montgomery are returning to South Africa after only one season playing in France. Record Springbok cap and points holder Montgomery is rejoining Western Province, while Smit is expected to return to the Sharks.
They both missed the 26-0 Test win over Italy, but will be back on duty together again for the world champions when the Tri Nations tournament begins next month.
