Five former Springbok internationals have been included in the Namibian XV as South African head coach Peter de Villiers looks set to get his wish of a tough workout prior to taking on the Lions in Durban, Pretoria and Johannesburg.
Leicester fly-half Derick Hougaard and ex-Tigers halfback cum full back Jaco van der Westhuyzen will start for the Namibians, as will centre Meyer Bosman and wing Tonderai Chavhanga, while Wayne Julies is named among the replacements.
Chavhanga trained with the Boks in 2008 and a strong performance could see him force his way back into international reckoning in time for the visit of Ian McGeechan's tourists.
The Namibian XV also possess plenty of Super 14 experience through players such as Sharks scrum-half Rory Kockott, seen by many South Africans as unfortunate not to be involved with the Springboks themselves.
Duane Vermeulen, Nico Breedt, David de Villiers and Richardt Strauss have all also played Super 14 rugby, while Namibian internationals Jacques Burger and Jacques Nieuwenhuis have World Cup experience.
Veteran Castres prop Kees Lensing captains the Namibian XV alongside fellow Namibians Llewellyn Winckler, Hugo Horn, Johnny Redelinghuys, Jurie van Tonder and Chrysander Botha.
Former Bath centre Frikkie Welsh also starts at the Hage Geingob Stadium in the Namibian capital.
