"To get off to a good start, get that spirit going, it is important to start with a win," said Bulloch.
"Every game is a big game on this tour and we want to put in a good performance against the Bay of Plenty.
"We have been watching a few tapes of what they have been doing in the National Provincial Competition last year. They will be gearing up to play us as their one big game this season so it will be very difficult.
"They will try and compete on a lot of our ball and it is up to ourselves to get some good set-piece ball for our backs.
"We are still working on gelling as a team but things are coming together and with a lot of talent on the field for Saturday's game, we are hopeful we can get the tour off to a good start."
Bulloch added: "Everyone is looking towards that first Test but it is important we get the results right and the Test match selection will look after itself."
