Thomas plans to enjoy experience
19 April 2005 11:24am
British & Irish Lion Gareth Thomas is relishing the prospect of tackling New Zealand this summer - and intends to enjoy every minute of the experience.
"The Welsh players are all delighted and relishing the opportunity to play with such a great squad of players.
"There will be tough times and good times but I can guarantee from myself and the other Welsh players we will support Brian (O'Driscoll) 100 per cent. I know that goes for the whole squad too.
"We know what a great challenge it will be but there is no book that says you can't enjoy it and play with a smile on your face. We will aim to do just that."
Gordon Bulloch, one of just three Scots in Sir Clive Woodward's 44-man touring party, said: "To be mentioned alongside so many other Scottish greats who have toured with the Lions is a great feeling.
"We maybe small in number but we will be big in commitment and passion. We will not let these players down."
England back-row Martin Corry said: "We may have played against each other in the Six Nations but nothing will stop us coming together for the Lions.
"We all know how hard it will be in New Zealand but everyone is looking forward to the challenge."
Irish second-row Paul O'Connell, another player who has experience of captaining his country, added: "This is a chance for the Irish players to achieve something really special.
"The Irish players are good trainers and honest players. We can't wait for the opportunity to join forces with the best of four nations and put together a vintage Lions squad."
