Lions Australia Tour 2013

Wales’ Grand Slam heroes could be forgiven for already having their bags packed for this summer’s British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand.

Success in the Six Nations has led to speculation as to how many of the Principality’s new superstars will miss out rather than how many will be on the plane.

But prop Gethin Jenkins, whose kick-and-chase try against Ireland on Saturday has already ensured him legendary status in his own country, is taking nothing for granted when Sir Clive Woodward names his touring party on April 11 and accepts he cannot afford to rest on his laurels.

"The Lions is obviously an ambition, but it is up to the coaches at the end of the day," he said.

"You never count on it, and I have got to play well for my region (Cardiff Blues) over the next couple of weeks.

"We’ve got a big game now, against Glasgow away next Friday, so we will have to wait and see.

"Just being in the Wales team has been a big thing for me. To play 80 minutes of every game has been great, and I have enjoyed myself."
