Newcastle director of rugby Rob Andrew has yet to decide whether British & Irish Lions duo Jonny Wilkinson and Colin Charvis are fit enough to feature in the club’s European Cup quarter-final against Stade Francais.

The Falcons warmed up for the game next Saturday – considered the biggest in the club’s history – with a 9-5 home defeat to Bath in the Premiership which presented Andrew with some more fitness concerns.

"It’s too early to say whether Wilkinson and Charvis will play," said Andrew.

"We will look at it during the week and decide but we did have the boost of getting Matt Burke, Mathew Tait and Epi Taione back out there on the field.

"We will have to assess the front-row situation when we have had a chance to check out the injuries but we seem to just be shifting our injury problems around.

"We have just got to get on now and start thinking about Paris – there is no point in crying over this game, it’s gone."
