Lions Australia Tour 2013

Dwayne Peel is taking nothing for granted ahead of the British & Irish Lions’ three Tests against the All Blacks this summer.

The Llanelli Scarlets star will travel to New Zealand as a red-hot favourite for the Lions Test number nine jersey, a feat which would see him emulate such Welsh greats as Gareth Edwards, Robert Jones and Rob Howley if he achieves it.

But the 23-year-old is quick to play down prospects of making Sir Clive Woodward’s Test line-up.

"There is loads of time before the Tests, and a lot of hard work to be done between now and then," he said.

"For me, it is case of very much looking forward to it, and I am sure it will be a great experience.

"New Zealand are a quality side, everyone knows that, but there is nothing to fear. We have got to be confident in going out there with the aim of winning."
