Andy Henderson is determined to thank coach Frank Hadden for his place in the Scotland team by defeating England in Saturday’s Calcutta Cup showdown at Murrayfield.

The Glasgow centre played just five minutes of last season’s Six Nations campaign under previous boss Matt Williams and he said: "I have gained confidence from starting every match since [Hadden] took over from Matt and that air of enthusiasm is rubbing off on everyone."

Henderson knows the odds are stacked against the Scots but he would love a repeat of their opening victory over France.

He added: "We must go into the match with a realistic approach. England don’t have too many weak points and they can dominate teams through their sheer size and strength.

"It’s imperative we keep them running around and dictate the pace. We are a fit unit and have the staying power."
