Two former New Zealand rugby captains are included in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

New Zealand Rugby Union chairman and former All Blacks captain Jock Hobbs has been made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the list announced by the Governor-General, Dame Silvia Cartwright.

Tana Umaga, who stood down from the role in January, has been made an officer of the NZOM.

Former Warrington rugby league player Tawera Nikau and former women’s cricket captain Maia Lewis were made Members of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
